Ask, Praise, Pray
Growing up my mother and grandma would say things like, “Okay Lord you know we need a green light” or “Lord you know we need to find XYZ at the store”. I always thought it was humorous because the lights are on a timer or motion censored, and it's the store's control if they have what we need. Right?
As I have gotten older, I have realized that no ask, praise, or prayer is too small for God. I think oftentimes we save the “God Card” for larger items in our lives, but the Lord is constantly with you giving you small blessings throughout the day. I encourage you to pray that he opens your eyes to these things because they are honestly SO COOL.
For a quick example, this past holiday season I decided to thrift half of the items I was giving. It was the night before the Secret Santa event, while I was arranging the baskets I had thrifted with the items I bought It simply would not fit, the baskets were too small. I said out loud “Lord, I am taking all these items out and walking away for a few minutes, and whatever you need to do, shrink the filler items or make the basket bigger, I'll leave it up to you”. I come back and they all fit perfectly. I squealed; I was so excited!
While that is just one of the many times the Lord has provided, I have made it a goal of mine each day to find the little blessing he gives me. The compliments when my skin isn't the best, the short line to get coffee when I am in a rush, all green lights on the way home from a long day, the store having the item I needed. While these are small things the Lord wants a relationship. Appreciating, talking about, and praying during the small things is important to have a true friend in Jesus!
I encourage you to talk to God and ask him to open your eyes to the small things.
