Breathe in, Breathe out
Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. This is how I decompress, after a long shift, day, week, or month. We ALL have ways we decompress and find our peace again, while some habits or methods may be healthier than others, I am not here to judge but simpliy to share what I do!
To start showers! This is one of the most universal ways to decompress. I have placed eucalyptus in my showers to give a relaxing aroma but also I just get excited to use my smell-good soaps! Doing a small nighttime routine helps me feel in control after a long day. Knowing what I am putting on my skin and washing away all of the stresses of the day.
Another way I decompress is comfort drinks, while comfort meals are great sometimes we need something quicker than that. I have gone to drink orders that never fail me, grabbing one of those and just taking two or three sips in my car before going back into the day is super helpful for me!
Afternoon walks/ drives, now this is not an option for everyone due to how busy life can be but, taking a walk down a nice park path or going for a drive down a more scenic route is so nice sometimes to just think and reflect.
Lastly, giving it to God. I am extremely type A so this one can be a struggle at times but I found it the most rewarding. God wants to hear, help and be there, nothing is too small or big for him. These are just a few ways I am able to relieve stress. The following are bullet points with ideas, and other ways I personally decompress!
